From Enschede, the Nederlandse Reisopera (Dutch Touring Opera) travels all over our country. At the same time, it has an international reputation. By pushing limits, it makes opera of today and of everyone. The company has a unique way of making this multidisciplinary art form extremely accessible. You want to experience that!
Quite an EXPERIENCE, BEHIND THE SCENES as well
From sets and costumes to lighting, sound, direction and so much more. You need about 300 people in total for a complete opera production. At the Nederlandse Reisopera that is all arranged in a very special way. A core team of about 30 colleagues is the driving force behind new productions. As many as four per year. For each production, Enschede is home to a different company for 2.5 months. From our city this caravan then travels to many cities in the Netherlands to deliver a top performance.
IN LARGE AND IN SMALL
The Nederlandse Reisopera has been on the road with guts for 65 years. When it comes to innovation, it 'just' dares to tread new paths. In and around Enschede, for example, you come across the Reisopera in all kinds of forms. On campsites, at schools, with family performances, small operas... ,but also in partnerships with the Theatermakerij, Theater Sonnevanck and innovative companies like Tiny Giants. The Reisopera invites you to participate in many ways. You can come and see for yourself how they make opera in their studio. Talent is always welcome: children can join the Children's Choir throughout the year. The Nederlandse Reisopera is still far from finished. When are you going to take the time to listen?
